I find it fascinating that people don't seem to know what to do with that word.
Must be a cultural defect. Like asparagus.

no, no, it's CHEE-POTTLE. Or, wait, CHEE-POLE-TAY. Or... gosh, I've even heard CHIP-UDDLE.
Another one that confuses people is 'Alzheimer's'. Mostly people say "old-timer's" but I've heard "all-timer's" and even "alt-sizers".
Language is a wonderful thing!
